Nitrous oxide, commonly referred to as laughing gas, is a mild sedative that is administered through a mask. Within minutes of wearing the mask, you will begin to feel completely relaxed. The nitrous oxide starts wearing off as soon as the mask is removed, allowing you to be able to resume your daily activities following your appointment. Nitrous oxide is safe for adults and children.
Oral sedation is sedation in pill form. Within minutes of taking the oral sedation, you will start to feel comfortable. The oral sedation will keep you from being bothered by surrounding sounds and smells. You may be drowsy and remember little from your appointment. When the appointment is over, a driver will need to take you home as the sedation can take several hours to completely subside. Oral sedation is a common option for those who are scared of needles and would rather avoid the IV Sedation.
IV Sedation is administered through an IV. Your highly experienced dentist will carefully place an IV, allowing you to receive the sedation throughout your appointment. IV Sedation has the advantage of allowing your dentist to increase or decrease the strength of the sedation throughout the appointment. IV Sedation also starts to wear off as soon as the IV is removed. IV Sedation is the strongest sedation option we offer.
